April
begins,
unusually,
with
the
Festival
Players’
Spring
production
and
between
the
2nd
and
the
5th
of
the
month
it
is
the
turn
of
the
Junior
Players
to
present
their
own
production
of
“Showtime”.
More
details
and
tickets
are
available
on
875326.
On
the
6th
April
the
Play
Readers
continue
their
study
of
modern
English
playwrights
and
on
this
occasion
we
shall
be
looking
at
Harold
Pinter’s
play
The
Birthday
Party.
On
the
18th
April
we
are
having
a
major
fund-raising
effort
with
an
auction
of
original
works
of
art;
paintings,
photographs
and
textile
art
will
be
auctioned
and
smaller
hand
–
made
items
will
be
for
sale
too.
People
who
have
exhibited
in
the
Art
Centre’s
Gallery
are
very
kindly
putting
work
into
the
sale
and
the
Art
Centre’s
Roof
Appeal
will
benefit
from
a
commission
on
every
piece
sold,
so
here
is
an
opportunity
to
acquire
a
unique
piece
of
art
and
help
us
meet
out
£60,000
target
at
the
same
time.
On
the
25th
April
the
Comedy
Club
is
opening
its
doors
for
the
last
time
this
season
and
the
final
Jazz
concert
takes
place
on
the
26th
April
when
an
old
favourite,
Dave
Mott
returns.
Both
events
begin
at
8pm.
The
Children’s
Music
Theatre
performs
three
short
musical
dramas
under
the
collective
title
of
Wickedly
Funny
on
the
27th
April
to
round
off
a
very
busy
weekend.
The
performances
are
at
4.30
and
7.30
and
tickets
can
be
reserved
by
ringing
0161
